HEALTHY MOONG BAJRA KHICHDI

Ingredients:

  • Bajra soaked and drained 15g
  • Yellow moong dal washed and drained 15g
  • Olive oil ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Cumin seeds  – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Turmeric powder  – ¼ Teaspoon
For Garnishing:
  • Onion rings
  • Chopped Coriander  – 10g

Notes:

  • The number of ingredients can change as per the number of people being served.
  • If you like you can change the style and make modifications to the mentioned ingredients and recipe.

Directions:

  1. Combine the bajra, moong dal, salt, and water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
  2.  Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Keep aside.
  3.  For the tempering, heat the oil in a small non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.
  4. When the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida, turmeric powder and saute for a few seconds.
  5. Add the tempering to the khichdi, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.  Serve immediately.
