THIN CRUST PIZZA

This recipe is curated to provide numerous health benefits while keeping calories to a minimum. It features powerful, nutritious and simple ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • For the crust:
    • 1 whole wheat tortilla or flatbread (8-10 inches) (no refined flour)
    • 1/2 tsp olive oil
  • For the toppings:
    • 1/4 cup tomato sauce (no added sugar) (home-made)
    • 1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
    • 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers
    • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
    • 1/4 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
    • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
    • 1/2 tsp dried basil
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the crust: Brush the whole wheat tortilla or flatbread lightly with olive oil. Place it on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  3. Add the sauce: Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the tortilla, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Add toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Top with sliced bell peppers, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Season with dried oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the crust are crisp.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
