Healthy Fresh Basil Pesto

This recipe is curated to provide numerous health benefits while keeping calories to a minimum. It features powerful, nutritious and simple ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp pine nuts or walnuts
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast (for a cheesy flavor, optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Water (if needed, to adjust consistency)

Directions:

  1. Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the fresh basil, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil, and lemon juice.
  2. Add Seasoning: Add salt, pepper, and nutritional yeast (if using), and blend until smooth.
  3. Adjust Consistency: If needed, add a little water to achieve your desired consistency.
  4. Taste & Adjust: Taste and adjust the seasoning to your preference.
  5. Serve: Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
